Art of Essay Writing
I love essays! I enjoy reading them, checking them, teaching my students how to generate them, but most of all I enjoy writing them! You want to ask why. I hope after reading my article you will understand. And I so much believe that you will also fall in love with the incredible world of essays. Let’s start our trip from a short background. The word “essay” originated from French word “essai” which means “attempt, effort, sketch”. And this translation reflects the essence of the task you are assigned at your college. Really, it is your personal attempt to give a challenging sketch on some engrossing issue. Unlike other academic assignments, essay suggests freedom of your creative work. Its main advantage is that you can write it on any topic, in any style. Essay is your own point of view on something you have heard, read, seen etc. The forefront of the essay is your personality, your thoughts, feelings and your life position. You have a unique chance to enter a reasonable controversy with other authors, as the teacher expects you to show your erudition in the subject. However, you should remember that regardless freedom of the writing process, it is not that easy at all. Because you are expected to find an original and capturing idea (even in the traditional context) and exceptional opinion on some problem.
The title of essay does not strictly depend on the essay topic: the title can also serve as a starting point in your reflection; it can express the relation of the whole and the parts. A free composition of essay is subject to its inner logic, it is an emphasized position of the author.
The style of the essay is marked by its aphoristic, paradoxical and figurative character. To convey your personal perception of the world you should: employ a lot of capturing examples, draw parallels, choose analogies, use various associations. One of the characteristic features of essay is the wide usage of numerous expressive means, such as metaphors, parable and allegoric figures, symbols and comparisons. Your can enrich and make your essay more interesting if you include in it: unpredictable conclusions, unexpected turning points, interesting clutches of events.Essay presents a dynamic interchange of author’s arguments, supporting evidence and questions.
Be brief, but at the same time avoid absolute simplicity. No one will like reading a monotonous narration. Completing the draft of your essay, read it aloud, yes, aloud. You will be struck by the number of rough details in your essay. You should get rid of them with no regret. If you have to say something new, original and exclusive, then the genre of essay is your genre. Be creative, free your mind and may be you will reveal a great essayist in yourself.
Inner Awareness
We are all pelted with problems. Honestly, it should not even bother or even hinder us to becoming all we ought to be. Aspirations as kids should continue to live within us, even though it would be short-lived or as long as we could hold on to the dream. They say you cannot teach an old dog new tricks… or can you?
If you are like me, there are so many things you want to do with your life and so little time to do it, even going about your normal daily tasks during the day, seems to take forever. Therefore, I would ask you to delve deep inside yourself to find the answer.
Concentrate and take notice of your Inner Awareness
Inner-Awareness, what does it mean? Well, lets us look at each word individually.
“Inner” means inside, within the essence of our being on some spiritual level.
“Awareness” means one’s perception of reality from one plane or dimension to another.
Therefore, it could be said that “Inner-Awareness” is an attitude, an understanding of ones inner consciousness. An understanding of how one perceives themselves. A true understanding of how you really feel and why you act in the way you do.
Every person in this world has access to their inner awareness. We all live in a very materialistic world that is run by logic and scientific achievement and discovery. For something to be real, you must perceive it with your physical senses. If you’re inner awareness has not been developed and fine-tuned, then you may find many activities and energies around have no conscious awareness for you, so you will be out of touch with your inner self.
Your goal is to create a balance between the physical senses and the inner senses. There are two energies muscular and feminine. A masculine energy is more aggressive, a logical action to take, which results in a creation of something in the physical world. A feminine energy is a more flowing and spontaneous energy that relates more to the spiritual essence of our being. Inherent within all beings are both energies. When they work together, they create a harmonic balance.
A key element in developing your inner awareness’s is to trust an initial response, answer or insight you receive from yourself. For example, how many times have you had an intuitive insight to do something, which made no logical sense at all?
Most of us at sometime, have let our logical mind talk us out of things and then we could kick ourselves later because we missed an opportunity. If your mind is busy, and you are thinking about all the problems in your life and worrying about tomorrow, you could miss some important information or insights that will help you in life. Another thing you may possibly do is not trust your inner self when making a key decision in your life, but you will trust someone else to make the decision for you.
When you use your inner awareness, you receive guidance through your life, and who knows you best? You do, so why not take notice of it.
To receive inner guidance is to trust in yourself and to be open to the incredible and infinite possibilities of the adventures of life that present themselves to you in your lifetime.
I believe when you are spontaneous, you allow your inner awareness to come out and play, that is when you are truly channeling from within. You can tell when you are around a person in this state because they make you feel happy inside. In today’s society we are taught that it is not proper to be spontaneous, that you should act in a certain way and follow certain rules. I believe this subconscious programming is detrimental to your inner health. I feel you should go with your creative flow and be who you are and not worry if other people accept you or not. No matter how nice you try to be or courteous with others there will always be someone who will be disturbed about who you are, and the way you are behaving. This is not a bad thing in itself, because when you see something in another you do not like, that person is mirroring something inside of you that you wish to change.
So lighten up, try to be yourself. With so much happening around us there seems to be no room for even considering the possibility of a light at the end of the tunnel. We can still see it as something positive without undergoing so much scrutiny. Moreover, if it is a train at the end of the tunnel, take it for a ride, and see what makes the world go round!
If history has taught us one thing, it is the life that we have gone through. There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. It doesn’t take a genius to see yourself as someone unique, or else we’ll all be equally the same in everything we do. Variety brings in very interesting and exciting questions to be experimented with. Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you will be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing.
What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the many may be the hardest part. It’s not as if you can’t have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.
So, what really makes you tick?
You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that understand and believing in your own self-awareness is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want to believe in and trust.
The power of concentration is a skill that is easy to master, that is if you have the willpower to do so.
“If there is a will, there is a way” according to one saying, the same goes with concentration. Popular television newscaster and personality Diane Sawyer was once asked about her secret to professional success. Her response was that paying attention was her secret.
The question therefore remains, “How does one basically maintain focus and concentration?”
The following are helpful tips to improve your ability to concentrate in the best way possible. These suggestions apply whether you are in the office busy with work, school, business meeting, or if you are trying to finish a particular project.
1. Do five more There are actually two types of persons in the world: those who know how to go through in eliminating frustration and those who wish they are able to work through it.
Focus and concentrate in doing just five more things. This sort of mantra is best said when you feel like giving up.
For instance, if you feel like you no longer want to read or write any more pages, tell yourself to do just five pages more. Finish just five more math questions. Stay five minutes more on the treadmill. Take note that athletes build their own physical prowess by pushing their bodies to the point of exhaustion while they develop mental stamina.
2. Take one step at one time There are instances when you feel like your mind is loaded with many ideas like that of a scatterbrain. The key is to control your brain.
Rather worrying on many matters, prioritize tasks and do only those that are needed.
For instance, you cannot help but think of mounting debt problems and this causes you to lose focus on the presentation that you need to do in five minutes. Tell your mind that you will think of ways to pay off your bills after your presentation. Your mind will then establish closure and allow you to focus on the presentation.
3. Train yourself to have a tunnel vision You could actually cup your hands around your own eyes. This could serve as a trigger to tell your mind to focus on a particular responsibility.
For example, you are in a room and you need to study but there are many things prevent you from concentrating. Cupping your own hands around your own eyes could help your brain to switch to focus mode and keep it on its track.
4. Have a handy pad When a thought pops inside your head and this causes you to lose focus, jot down this thought immediately.
Writing it down is an effective way to get it out of your mind. After which, consciously focus on the task that you need to accomplish at the moment.
5. Have a break Remember that you are not a machine. You need to take a break to be able to focus on the task that you have to do.
Taking breaks is a good way to break down the tasks into parts that are a lot more manageable. You may take a walk outside or eat lunch out.
6. Record your start and end time When doing work, try to record the time you began and the time when you mind begins to drift.
Doing so helps you know just how much time you spent doing actual work and the time when you start losing your concentration. Being aware leads to enlightenment.
7. Vary your activities It is advisable to vary the activities you do in order to keep your mind active and not bored.
A bored mind will just easily float and drift away to oblivion.
All in all, these activities and tips need to be practiced regularly to be able to concentrate and focus in the things that really matters most for you.

When fossil collecting, road cuts can hold many treasures for fossil hunters. But fossil hunters BEWARE! Those cuts hold something more: varmints that will hang on to your skin long after you’ve taken your fossil treasures home.
A Lesson Learned
We’re new at this fossil hunting thing. Oh, we found our share of relics when we were kids and young adults, but as bona fide rock hounds, we are novices. We learned the varmint lesson the hard way this summer.
The Danger Sign
On a tip from a friend on a great place to find crinoids, we excitedly scrambled over a road cut in southern Indiana, paying no heed to the telltale signs that should have made us take care. In the excitement of fossil collecting, we ignored the water that was seeping from the cut…never thinking that the plants were anything more than a mild impediment to our rock hounding.
Something Found Us
By the next morning, our armpits and waists were dotted with quarter-inch red bumps. Surprisingly, the chiggers hadn’t cared much for our ankles! My husband, who grew up in the west, had never experienced the intense itching of those little critters. Days after we arrived home and still itching, he scoured the internet for preventions and cures.
Oh, Now I Remember
I should have known better. I grew up in southern Ohio; chiggers were part of everyday summer life. I also should have thought about the poison ivy that was lurking there. Be the third day after we arrived home, my entire face was swollen and red…and the itching was nearly unbearable. The poison seemed to spread for weeks. It was a full 2 months before the last of the nasty red patches were gone.
Better Safe Than Sorry
So when fossil collecting take heed! Cover your body COMPLETELY when you go out in the field. Along with your rock hammer, carry some powdered sulphur to rub around your ankles, waist, wrists and armpits. My mother never went out to the garden without first dowsing herself in that natural chigger-repellent.
Make sure you have access to a hot shower and use special cleansers for removing the urushiol (poison ivy sap or oil) that causes the watery blisters.
A little consciousness about the plants and animals that shared the road cut would have made our excursion…or the return from it, a whole lot more enjoyable!
A Lasting Memory
We did find lots of crinoid fossils, but they were not what we remember most about this fossil collecting trip!

Trust is the foundation of all successful interpersonal relationships, both personal and business. Trust is the confidence or belief a person feels toward a particular person or group. Trust is, therefore, one of the primary binding forces in any interpersonal relationship. It permits people to overcome doubts and unknowns and enjoy peace of mind. The absence of trust causes confusion, worry, inaction, and fear. When interpersonal trust is present, a person feels a confidence that everything will somehow work out. In the workplace, trust is a prerequisite for effective interpersonal communications. Without trust, employees may feel uncertainty, worry, and a sense of insecurity. No relationship, personal or business, can exist for even a short period of time if some element of trust is not present. Trust is an essential leadership training ingredient that binds any human relationship into an effective, working partnership.
Even though trust is fundamental to human relationships, it is actually misunderstood by many people. People use trust, or the lack of it, to explain good and bad relationships with others. Consider the cliché phrases: “Don’t worry, you can trust me” and “Just trust me.” Trust has become both a buzzword and an excuse in our society. Trust is as much abused as it is used in today’s business world. It is used to define and explain; yet few leadership training programs have seriously considered what it is and what it is not.
Psychologists are just beginning to learn how trust really works. Research suggests that trusting relationships are predictable, caring, and faithful. When a manager’s behavior is consistent over a period of time and another person can reasonably predict that behavior, trust is possible. By contrast, it is difficult to trust a person whose actions are inconsistent or unpredictable.
Caring in a relationship involves actions that express consideration toward the other person. Through effective leadership training, a caring supervisor knows when final exams are scheduled at the local college and asks employees who will be taking the tests how much time off will be needed to study. A caring supervisor finds out about a birth, death, anniversary, graduation, or sickness and sends a card to the employee’s home.
Faith is the belief that an employee’s behavior will be in direct response to the trust placed in that relationship. Faith can be demonstrated by communicating clear expectations and then telling the employee, “I know you and I believe you can accomplish this assignment.” Managers who have difficulty demonstrating faith in others typically have difficulty trusting them as well. Trust as a leadership training component can help change this.
Building trust in the workplace is vital for a long-lasting, satisfying, rewarding, and successful relationship. Leadership training helps effective managers practice behaviors that promote and build trusting relationships. They learn to do this with consistent actions each day. In return they obtain the benefits of high-trust employee relations. These benefits include higher morale, increased initiative, improved honesty, and better productivity. All are important aspects of a profitable and rewarding business experience.
It’s not uncommon for people to use the word “trust” to describe a feeling they have regarding some interpersonal relationships. Trust does not magically appear in a relationship without certain elements preceding it over time. And once trust has been breeched it is difficult and sometimes impossible to establish once again.
Three steps pave the path before enduring trust begins. The first step is effective communications. When we communicate effectively with another person we have an opportunity to move that relationship to the second step, which is real understanding. That is when two people have communicated to the point of honest and deep understanding. This can lead to the third step in the relationship of mutual respect. A respecting relationship demands that each person contribute enough respect that it can be reciprocated back from the other person. Unilateral respect in relationships is temporary and superficial. Mutual respect that can lead to trust is much deeper and must come from communicated understanding. Once a relationship has experienced mutual respect it is possible for the participants to experience enduring relational trust. This is a feeling that binds people together over time and through trials.
The four steps are dependent upon the actions or integrity of the individuals involved. Integrity is not only keeping agreements, but it is also “walking the talk.” If, for example, a person communicates deceitfully, how much understanding will there be? And how much respect will the other person have? Ultimately trust will be lacking.
Enduring trust is a leadership training process that takes time and effort. It is clearly the essence of what fuels meaningful relationships.
Test your Trust
Answer the following five statements on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is not true and 5 is completely true.
- My actions each day demonstrate that I trust my employees.
- My employees can trust me with sensitive or private information.
- I would never betray a trust with an employee.
- I keep confidences and would never share confidential information inappropriately.
- I am able to trust my employees.
Tally your scores from the five items. A total score of 20 to 25 would indicate that you and your employees probably share an atmosphere of trust. A score of 15-19 would indicate that trust is present, but not in abundance. A score of 14 or less probably means that some additional leadership training efforts in building trust would be appropriate.

Education, Laughter and marriage
Married couples get most of their laughter from TV sitcoms these days. In other words, they no longer generate their own laughter, but rely on TV to do it for them.
If you go to a restaurant, you can always pick out the married couples, they are the ones not talking to one another.
Laughter with each other is what couples need the most, even more so when relationships have somewhat cooled. Unfortunately, laughter increases more in a group than between two people.
A study found that people laugh 6 more times when in the company of one person, but this increases to 30 times when in the company of a group of people. Laughter establishes a positive emotional climate between a couple who enjoy each other’s company. In addiition to the pleasure and social aspects, laughter can subdue anger, stress and anxiety and therefor facilitate intimacy.
Dr. Robert R. Provine, Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Maryland reports some interesting findings:
Laughter plays a role in mating. Men like women whom laugh heartily in their presence.
Females laugh 126% more than their male counterparts. Men are more laugh-getters.
The laughter in relationships declines dramatically as people age.
Like yawning, laughter is contagious; the laughter of others is irresistable.
If you ever browsed through the “Personal Ads,’ you would have noticed that 80% of women seek a partner with a ’sense of humor,’ an indication that a ’sense of humor’ is tops on womens’ lists of most desirable traits in a man.
Gerry Hopman is a Humorist, Motivational Speaker and Author, who believes that humor and laughter are essential in finding and maintaining balance in life and career.

Education, Sufficient English language knowledge, a must-have in today’s society
Summary: If you’ve ever had problems in communication with others because your familiarity with English is not as it should be, then you need to change all that by starting to study courses with a qualified teacher. Choosing the right person to aid you or the right intensive English course is an important decision and should be given a lot of thought as it directly determines the results you will gain at the end of the day.
Have ever had difficulties in communicating with your associates, partners or just friends from abroad because you couldn’t always understand what they were saying or because you couldn’t make yourself understood? Have you been feeling left out of a debate because your knowledge of English was not as advanced as it should be? Did it ever occur to you that your business success was held back by this particular problem and that you could do so much better if you could remedy it? If the above describe a situation you’ve experienced, then it is time to find out how you can tip the scales in your favour.
First of all, acknowledging that it is high time you took some measures is the foremost step in putting the conversational handicap behind you permanently. English has slowly become a universal language, spoken in all fields of activity, from education to business, and it is conventionally established that every person involved must know the minimum required for his message to be understood entirely. Therefore, deciding to study English and get help in trying to overcome your problem is a necessary step and it will pay off almost instantly. All it takes is patience, devotion and hard work, as well as a well qualified teacher or an Intensive English course.
Although the market is bursting with different self-learning courses, cassettes, how-to-learn-at-home videos and other similar items, it is advisable that you acquire the services of a professional English teacher instead. Choosing the latter option will allow you to absorb more information, learn English terminology, and study English phonetics, all in a more natural way and in record time. Certain grammatical and vocabulary issues would be impossible to learn using a cassette, for example, while a qualified professor can lead you through an ongoing study of the matters. Also an important benefit of this kind of learning is its inter-human aspect, allowing you to feel more comfortable throughout the learning process. A residential English summer course could be the ideal answer. A family stay can be ideal but also can prove complicated. Staying in a residence offers independence but if the course organizers can assure a mixture of nationalities then hopefully you will be speaking English all day. A few courses offer the presence of teachers all day, this is obviously very recommendable.
However, you should pay great attention when choosing the person (or institution) that will instruct you as not all so-called “professional teachers” are indeed professional nor have the same qualifications. Neglecting this aspect can result in a series of drawbacks in the knowledge you gain, and consequently the results would not be the ones you had hoped for. Consider devoting a fairly long amount of time to this decision by studying different offers via the Internet or agencies, gathering opinions from people who have acquired the services of a certain teacher and make your choice based on the conclusions you draw from all these sources.
In conclusion, choosing to learn English or to improve your English language skills is a compulsory step, especially in the business world nowadays, as it allows you to make your ideas heard and also comprehend other people’s opinions. Leave your pride aside and get help from a professional and you won’t regret it even for a second.

Education, Post 9/11 GI Bill
This is an excellent oppurtunity for those of us currently serving and those looking to enlist.
I was so overjoyed to hear about this new GI Bill. I had to share it with everyone who would listen.
Now for some GI Bill history:
The “Servicemen’s Readjustment Act” the WWII GI Bill made higher education affordable for eight million veterans.
-This bill expired in 1956 and it covered tuition fees books and gave veterans a living stipend while they were at school.
Now lets fast forward to today:
The current benefits offered to veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are much lower than the original GI Bill.
-After contributing $1200.00, troops recieve a total of about $39,600 towards there education this only covers 60-70% of average cost for 4yrs at a public college or university or less than two at a private college.
Now lets move to the future (Aug 1 2009):
The new GI Bill is here and has been approved.
-The Post 9/11 bill will benefit those serving on or after Sept 11 2001
-It is available Aug 2009
-You can recieve up to 36 months of entitlement
So what are the benefits:
- Tuition and fees, not to exceed most expenseive in-state public institution of higher education.
-Monthly housing allowance equal to BAH amount payable to a military E-5 w/dependents in same zip code as school (paid to you) ***Sorry no internet schools
-Yearly books and supplies stipened for up to $1000 dollars per year (paid to you)
Now for all of those who were wondering how can I go to college know that there is always another option other than the road of student loans. I chose to go to the Coast Guard and it had to be the best decision that I have ever made. So while all my friends are paying back loans my school is paid for 100%

Accounting Institutes
Accountancy (Accounting) measurement, statement, or provision of assurance about financial information primarily used by managers, investors, tax authorities and other decision makers to make resource allocation decisions within companies, organizations, and public agencies. The terms derive from the use of financial accounts.
To monitor the work of companies with greater care and integrity, the accounting education is undergoing a revolution. Besides the usual courses in business math, asset valuation, etc., many schools now require courses in business ethics, investor relations, and fraud prevention to obtain an accounting degree.
Different between finance and accounting:
Fundamentally accounting deals with hard numbers, or in some cases, proxies for hard numbers (like good will, to which a currency-based value can be assigned). Finance was developed out of accounting practice by international companies like IBM and GE that needed to incorporate strategy into their evaluation of hard numbers, which is called performance. An analogy is the field of marketing which was developed out of sales for similar reasons. In both cases, the impact of market forces is incorporated into performance projections to forecast what the numbers mean. Finance studies trends, benchmarks, projections, impact, and return on investment, among other things. Accounting provides the data for these considerations. That data includes profit and loss. As for liability, it is calculated both in real terms, i.e. what you owe or the value of what you own; and in soft terms, what your exposure to risk is. Wall Street will evaluate a tobacco or pharmaceutical company in terms of the potential loss from a law suit and count this as a liability. Finance does include money management and investment.
Accounting courses in India has captured its special position on a large extent, they are many institutes offers accounting courses, they are many sites providing the institutes provide the details of accounting institutes. EG: site like APSIRA.
Education, Innovation Stopped
After 20 years of having courses both accredited and not accredited; we can see that while accreditation controls how bad a college can get; it also controls how good it can get.
By definition, accreditation systems are naturally trying to fit everyone into the same box.
The problem is that when you have an ethical and innovative college that is trying to do a better and more efficient job; the system can become very limiting. It takes money that might otherwise be spent on teaching; and redirects that money into bureaucracy. It stops rapid changes in courses (in a rapidly changing world), and imposes planning and management processes that make it impossible to keep up with the real needs of the world.
How much then is accreditation a measure of what is good? Maybe it is no more than just a measure of what is not bad.
I am forever optimistic; but cannot see how we can approach improved learning while we limit the scope of innovation.
Why do we need accreditation systems anyway? Is it because our teachers are so incompetent and unethical that they need bureaucrats to control them. Who then ensures the bureaucrats are competent and ethical though?

Comment from Stephen Eddy Principal of Health Schools Australia November 2007
“With regards to the article written by John Mason, I agree 100%. As an R.T.O. we are constantly bombarded with bureaucracy, which severely hampers our ability to adapt course work and be innovative. It also more importantly impedes our quality of material we teach the students. As Natural Medicine changes so rapidly, the burden of the bureaucracy stifles change, which is essential if we are to improve”.
Comment from Jerry Mintz at Alternative Education Revolution Network
“I do agree, John. We did try to get accreditation with IARC but the process got bogged down”
